With a clear understanding of Lustre - stone care system your natural stone will sustain their inherent beauty and durability for decades. However it must be clear that if a stone care system is not put into practice, not only can the aesthetics of the stone and the design be lost, but also an investment can be wasted and become an expensive liability.
Daily or weekly Schedule
Keeping the stone free of dust and dry sandy soil will minimize the scratches and wear-patterns that can develop from everyday use.
Sweep, dust or vaccum (soft Head) all natural stone surfaces regularly.
It is necessary to wash stone regularly. The job conditions will dictate frequency. The most frequent problems encountered with marble surfaces are related to it simply not getting effectively washed often enough.
Mix 1 part of Lustre Marble cleaner to three parts warm water.
Utilizing a clean, non-abrasive sponge, mop, or a microfiber mop and apply.
Allow to dwell for 2 to 3 minutes while agitating periodically.
Rinse thouroughly with clean water for best results extract all dirty remains with a wet vaccum system.
Steam Cleaner:
Aqua Laser floor steam cleaner daily or weekly, no chemicals required, but requires a monthly chemical clean utilisng Lustre marble cleaner.
Soaps:
Natural soaps are low-tech, inexpensive and user friendly. They are also capable of providing a sealing and/or dressing function for stone floors. Vegetable based soaps are best. Specialty soaps formulated for use on stone are highly recommended and desirable on most natural stone floors and other stone surfaces.
Detergents:
These are synthetic surface-active agents (surfactants) that are very good at picking up soils and emulsifying grease and oil. They make water "wetter" and more effective for cleaning purposes. The detergent used for stone cleaning should be carefully evaluated for compatibility with the stone. Detergents are typically used with water and may determine the pH of the cleaning solution. Detergents tend to leave the stone very "raw" or absorbent and residues will make water penetration into the stone more effective.
Acids:
Acidic products attack lime and cement. Do not utilise acids and acidic pH products as they attack the polish on marble and limestone. Lustre etch removal
Abrasives:
Abrasives should be limited to non-polished surfaces. Abrasives may be combined with detergents or soaps for scouring a surface and removing thin layers from the floor surface. There are many different types of materials - soft abrasives may be composed of nut shells or feldspars, hard abrasives can be silica quartz, carbide or even diamond.
Bleaches:
Bleaches are typically oxidizing agents (generate oxygen) and are useful in stain removal. Enzyme types are available which are non-hazardous.
Marble and Limestone important information:
Marble and limestone are alkaline-based stones and can be dissolved by acids in cleaning products and other kitchen sources, such as lemons, citrus juices, wine, and soft drinks. These fluids can etch and remove the polish from a marble floor, if not wiped up quickly.
These stones are soft and vulnerable to scratches and dulling by sand, grit and soil under common foot traffic, and can absorb stains.

Do's & Don'ts
Do use bath mats, but do not leave them on the floor for long periods, as water will begin to penetrate through even the best of sealers.
Do place a small rug at entryways to trap dirt and sand from normal foot traffic.
Do blot up spills immediately to minimize permanent damage to the stone.
Do clean surfaces by wiping with clean water or a neutral dry cleanser.
Don't use vinegar, bleach, ammonia or other general-purpose cleaners.
Don't use cleaner's that contain acid such as bathroom cleaners, grout cleaners or tub and tile cleaners.
Don't use abrasive cleaners such as dry cleansers or soft cleansers.
Don't use alkaline cleaners not specifically formulated for natural stone.
Do not use general purpose cleaners or you may damage the stone or the sealer that's been applied.
Do not use products that contain lemon, vinegar or other acids as these may etch the stone surface.
Do not use scouring powders or creams; these products contain abrasives that may scratch the surface.
Six monthly or yearly Maintenace Schedule similar to a WOF:
A site visit is required to evaluate the condition of the marble and detect if and any problems, that if left could be costly to restore.
Lustre aqua clean and Deep dirt extraction not only removes the surface dirt but draws out the dirt deep within the pores of the stone.
